Inis Nua Theatre Company presents the 2017 Heritage Reading: A Taste of Honey by Shelagh Delaney on Monday, April 10, 2017, at 7:00pm, at The Proscenium Theater at The Drake (302 Hicks St). The yearly Heritage Reading features a play that has inspired the next generation of playwrights. Premiering in 1958, this groundbreaking play follows a 17-year-old working class girl as she navigates the class, race and sexual divisions of 1950s Great Britain. British dramatist Shelagh Delaney wrote the play when she was 18, hoping use British theatre to address social issues. It was part of the “kitchen sink” genre and did play a part in revolutionizing theatre in England.  Tickets are on sale for $10.00 by calling (215) 454-9776 or visiting inisnuatheatre.org.
