Event Description

Roll through for the opening reception of new works by Joseph Hasenauer and Kathryn Moran in our upstairs loft. The two artists will be exhibiting beautiful life in colors sure to transition you right into a spring state of mind!

HASENAUER:

Worked years as a freelance illustrator. Published in video gaming and music magazines, T-shirts for national apparel company and several newspaper editorials. Excelling in many mediums; Drawing, Painting, Digital Media, Design, Photography and Film.

Participating in solo and group shows for paintings and photography. Currently Owns and operates as creative director of the award winning OSBX creative group.

The combination of the two most complex, intelligent and beautiful living things on the planet... Women and Octopus. Both are a complete mysteries to me. So, it made perfect sense that they would best friends - This implausible coupling made much more sense on a the bar napkin sketch 3 years ago... but, then again, I was full of whiskeys.

MORAN:

I paint the same subject matter multiple times, not to understand it better, but to distance myself from it. This limitation draws my focus from the ''what'' to the ''how''. It is similar to saying the same word over and over again. Llama, llama, llama. Wolf, wolf, wolf. The word will begin to lose it's original meaning & resonate as sounds.

It is not the llama or the wolf that I love, it is the layers created to compose the llama or the wolf. It is the moment when the original pink that was laid down peeks through the yellow that has become the prominent field of color. I try to never fully cover what is underneath, to show the search involved in the construction of each work. The layers create a visual record of my process.
