Sassy Tassels

If you are like me, just hearing the word tassels, paints a certain image of men's basket weave shoes with tiny little tassels on them. Not necessarily a bad thing, but up until recently tassels were associated with anything but women's haute couture. This is hard to imagine since any which way you turn this Spring, tassels are virtually EVERYWHERE.

I have to say, this trend has really grown on me. So much so, that I now seek out items adorned with this whimsical little accessory. This season I hope to make you see tassels in a whole new light; show you how to wear them, and of course, help you implement them into your wardrobe. Truth be told tassels are THE hottest trend for the Spring. There isn't a single article or clothing or accessory that hasn't been touched by it and lucky for you, I have done some digging and found the ultimate must-have tasseled items to own this Spring.

Tassels on dresses often connote a bohemian style of wear. So, this year Gucci, one of the most revered design houses took on the task of re-purposing this trend by putting tassels on the most sensual of dresses, their sleeveless crisscross dress with a scarf. I love everything about it except for the price. I just don't think that it is worth $1,495. So don't fret if this particular dress doesn't fit into your immediate budget, because I found a great way to achieve the tassel look for less. Start by investing in a tassel belt.

Not only will it look superb with dresses but it opens up an entire new realm of possibilities when paired with your existing coveted pieces. Personally, I'm a big fan of the Malene Birger brown belt with gold hardware and a tassel. It's moderately priced and has a unique vintage feel.

Kudos to DVF for taking on the tassel trend and running with it. You will be hard pressed to find pieces in her Spring line without tassels on them. How exciting!
