Event Description

Join Carpenters’ Hall during DesignPhiladelphia for a discussion panel on American architecture and its relationship with democratic ideals and practices. Serving as the site of the First Continental Congress in 1774, Carpenters’ Hall’s role in the birth of America will provide a perfect venue to explore these issues.

The panel will be hosted by state senator the Hon. Nikil Saval, a former co-editor of the literary journal n+1 and contributor of many writings on architecture and design. Listen as panelists Richard Bartholomew, John Blatteau, and Daniela Voith explore the role of architecture during the birth of the country, and its symbolization of American democracy. For those who are unable to attend, a recording of the discussion panel is available for purchase.
