Event Description

The arts come alive in Philadelphia's Garden District! Don't miss the Plein Air in @ChestnutHillPA
On Sunday, June 12th, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm more than 40 juried artists will be featured at Plein Air, an inspired outdoor art competition. Jill Rupinski, an associate professor at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, will serve as the selection juror, and William R. Valerio, the director and CEO of the Woodmere Art Museum, will serve as the awards judge. Artists will paint along Germantown Avenue, also known as “Philadelphia’s Garden District.”
Plein Air attendees can also enjoy the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Inside/Out project, which brings eight reproductions from both the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Woodmere Art Museum to the sidewalks of Germantown Avenue and Bethlehem Pike. In five of those locations, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Woodmere Art Museum have partnered together to pair works from across the globe with artwork by Philadelphia artists. Docents from Woodmere will be on site to engage with visitors, stimulate conversation and answer questions about the artworks.
