Event Description

InLiquid, The Philadelphia Photo Arts Center, and Second State Press present:

First Annual Members Show

August 2 – 24, 2013

The Icebox, Crane Arts Building, 1400 North American Street, 1st Floor, Philadelphia, PA
Second Thursday reception: August 8, 6 – 9pm.

Inspired by the collective creative force of three artist organizations, the First Annual Members Show at The Icebox will feature more than 200 works across a diverse array of media. The show will serve as a dynamic snapshot of the impressive work being created by members of InLiquid, The Philadelphia Photo Arts Center, and Second State Press.

The organizations have both a shared address at the Crane Arts Building, as well as a shared mission to support hundreds of artists throughout the region. The combined talent and resources of the three groups have helped to foster a vibrant creative community in Philadelphia for over fifteen years. Together, they work to build a variety of educational opportunities, forge local networks, and assist in the creation of new and innovative artworks.

InLiquid is a nonprofit organization committed to creating opportunities and exposure for visual artists while serving as a free, online public hub for arts information in the Philadelphia area. By providing the public with immediate access to view the portfolios and credentials of over 280 artists and designers via the internet; through meaningful partnerships with other cultural organizations; through community-based activities and exhibitions; and through an extensive online body of timely art information, InLiquid brings to light the richness of our region’s art activity, broadens audiences, and heightens appreciation for all forms of visual culture.

The Philadelphia Photo Arts Center is a community hub for contemporary photography. Devoted to the study, practice and appreciation of photos. PPAC organizes innovative exhibitions, inspiring artist lectures, diverse educational offerings, and affordable access to high-end digital equipment for the production of work. Founded in 2009, PPAC quickly became the premiere resource in the region for photographers and enthusiasts alike, and has flourished through its tremendous efforts towards outreach and public involvement. PPAC is committed to taking photography past the gallery walls and into the city, and to fostering the creative impetus in all those willing to take a picture.

Second State Press is a communal printmaking workshop whose mission is to foster the development of ideas and innovation in printmaking by providing artists with a professional, affordable, and supportive workspace. SSP advances the growth of a sustainable printmaking community by offering professional facilities through membership, affordable communal workspace for emerging and mid-career artists, educational print programming, and professional development opportunities.

Join us to discover new art by members of three groups dedicated to supporting artistic practice in Philadelphia.

The exhibition will be open Wednesdays through Saturdays, August 3 – 24, with a reception on August 8 from 6 – 9 pm during the Crane Arts Building’s Second Thursday event.
