Kokedama moss balls or “string gardens” are a unique way to garden vertically. Learn how make your own at our workshop this fall. Kokedama, sometimes referred to as the “poor man’s bonsai,” is a Japanese method of planting in versatile self-contained moss planters that you can hang anywhere your plants flourish. Bring a breathe of fresh air to your indoor space just in time for winter!
Our expert staff instructor will walk you through the process of correctly mixing soil, transplanting, and wrapping your moss cover as well as at home care and maintenance. Everyone will take away the Kokedama you make in class with a choice of mini houseplants like Ferns, Peace Lilies, or Caladiums. And we’ll give you handy instructions for your next mossy creation. Extra scissors and gloves are always welcome! Get ready to roll up your sleeves and have some fun.
Maureen and David are our own horticultural experts behind keeping our Garden Center lush, happy and healthy and are here to offer their expertise to you, whether you’ve got your first houseplant or have been gardening for years. Photo Courtesy of Costa Farms
