Event Description

Red Owl Tavern will celebrate its second anniversary on Thursday, October 30, from 6pm {until whatever time the keg is kicked} with Kick the Keg in Heels II—a fun Saison de Rose beer-infused party that celebrates the successes of the locally brewed charity beer and features the cuisine, cocktails, and the craft beer program of Red Owl Tavern while wrapping Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Think of it as a wrap party for Saison de Rose — the special craft brew from Free Will Brewing benefiting the University of Pennsylvania’s Rena Rowan Breast Center — and the whole city is invited.

For a nominal $5 donation, from 6-7pm, party goers get one hour of complimentary Saison de Rose beer, rose wine, or Red Own Tavern’s own Hibiscus Fizz cocktail, along with passed and stationery {anti-oxidant infused} hors d’oeuvres. From 7pm, on the restaurant’s mezzanine level, the beverages will be just $5 with $1 going to the Rena Rowan Center.

Additionally, guests will enjoy a silent auction with generously donated prizes, an opportunity to met the brewers and members of the Saison de Rose committee, and an opportunity to give nod to this great cause one last time before the month is over. Guests will enjoy photo ops with Philly Chit Chat, a brief check presentation from Free Will to the Center, and additional fun, food, and beverage.

For the second year in a row, prominent women of Philadelphia beer and beverage have come together to consult on Saison de Rose: Erin Wallace, owner of Barren Hill Tavern & Brewery, Old Eagle Tavern, and Devil’s Den; Marnie Old, sommelier/beverage expert and author; Tara Nurin, beer, beverage, and food expert and writer; and Carolyn “The Beer Fox” Smagalski, beer blogger, writer, and expert.

“We’re really excited to bring the Kick the Keg wrap party back to Red Owl Tavern,” says General Manager Natalie Pineda. “Contributing to such an awesome cause is really an honor, especially when you see the grass-roots results on an indivudal level. We hope everyone comes out, donates what they can, enjoys themselves, and maybe goes home with a great silent auction item or two.”

Silent Auction: 100 percent of the silent auction funds raised will be donated to Rena Rowan Breast Center. Silent auction items include:

Free Will Craft Beer Lover’s Gift Basket (estimated value of $100)

Dinner for Two at Red Owl Tavern (estimated value of $200)

Dinner for Four and Brewery Tour at Barren Hill Tavern & Brewery (estimated value $350)
