Event Description

InLiquid, a nonprofit organization committed to creating opportunities and exposure for visual artists in the Philadelphia area, has partnered with the Juvenile Law Center to present Juvenile In Justice, an exhibition of works by artists Richard Ross, Roberto Lugo, and Mat Tomezsko aimed at inspiring reform of the juvenile justice system and encouraging the implementation of art education programs nationwide. The Juvenile In Justice exhibition is inspired by Richard Ross’ award-winning book Juvenile-In-Justice, in which Ross travels to 30 states, including Pennsylvania, and photographs over 250 youth facilities. Ross’ works creates a framework for the discussion of issues surrounding juvenile incarceration, to which Philadelphia artists Roberto Lugo and Mat Tomezsko respond with examples of the positive influence that arts programming can provide, and how engaging youth in these programs is critical to change.
