Registration Required. Tyler Case and Brian Versek from Mycopolitan Mushroom Company come to Greensgrow to talk mushrooms! The workshop will focus on the skills, thought processes, and materials necessary to start growing delicious mushrooms at home. They will introduce you to the important roles of Fungi in nature and discuss mushroom medicine too.
Everyone will receive an oyster mushroom grow bag to start growing at home. The kit features a local oyster mushroom strain grown on straw and rye. Properly maintained, the kit will yield up to a pound of delicious oyster mushrooms over the course of a month. All you’ll need to do is provide a humid microclimate for your kit and spritz with mist most days and you can expect your first harvest within 10 days.
Tyler and Brian own and operate Mycopolitan Mushroom Company, a.k.a. Philly’s mushroom farm! They mainly grow Trumpet, Nameko, Pom Pom and Shiitake mushrooms in their North Philly subterranean farm, supplying many of the most-acclaimed, farm-to-table restaurants in the area as well as home cooks who enjoy the perks of membership in Mycopolitan’s CSA-style Farm Share. Mycopolitan has been featured in Vice-Munchies, Edible Philly, Grid and more, and is a always excited to share their love of Fungi with curious folks.
PLEASE NOTE: Cancellations within 72 hours of the start of class are nonrefundable or transferable. Workshop refunds and transfers requested earlier than 72 hours before the class start time will be charged a $5.00 processing fee.
