DesignPhiladelphia and Urban Roots Present the “Urban Topiary”

In honor of the completed Urban Topiary, JDT International will host a community celebration and Urban Roots fundraiser on October 22^nd in conjunction with DesignPhiladelphia. Guests will enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in The Flats at Girard Pointe, as they meet and greet with the Urban Topiary designers and check out the new “living” sculpture. First, guests will be able to learn about upcoming mentoring workshops for kids and the Urban Roots fine arts projects. Second, guests can join in creating a temporary mural on the wall adjacent to the Urban Topiary. Third, the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program will be in attendance to announce a fantastic Urban Roots mural that will complete the design of The Flats at Girard Pointe. In addition to these fine arts projects, Urban Roots will also announce an extremely exciting new Mentoring Workshop in Collaboration with ACE, YouthBuild and the Greek American Heritage Society of Philadelphia.  The workshop will take 20 YouthBuild students through 16 sessions of exciting trips, construction site visits and intriguing lectures. Finally, to raise funds for future Urban Roots projects and programs, JDT International will sell Urban Roots T-shirts, invite guests to partake in pumpkin painting and fall festivities, as well as allow guests the chance to win exciting prizes by purchasing raffle tickets.
