Event Description

Learn how to select cheeses for a cheese board and make pairing suggestions with Alex Jones from Collective Creamery.  She will walk you through an all local cheese tasting (yum) and discuss the best practices for evaluating, tasting, storing and serving cheese. We will cover the issues surrounding grass-fed dairy, and talk about the importance of supporting local cheese makers.

Alex Jones is a cheesemonger, writer, food educator, and regional food systems advocate who has been working with farmers and artisans in Pennsylvania for the past seven years. She sells cheese for Valley Milkhouse Creamery and is one-third of the team behind Collective Creamery, a women-powered artisan cheese subscription based in southeast Pennsylvania. Alex is a contributing writer for Foobooz.com and has written for CivilEats.com, BillyPenn.com, CiderCulture.com, Edible Philly, Edible Jersey, and Grid. She teaches cheese appreciation and pairing as well as home cheesemaking in and around Philadelphia.
