Event Description

Historic Strawberry Mansion, the largest of the Fairmount Park Historic Houses, celebrates the 200thanniversary of Judge William Lewis’s(d. August 16, 1819) legacy with reduced admission, storytelling, and fruit picking.

Held over two days, the fête will give visitors an opportunity to explore Lewis’s legal work on behalf of freedom-seeking African Americans, his contributions towards the 1780 “Act for the Gradual Abolition of Slavery,” and Philadelphia’s role as a liberating place for freedom seekers.
