Join hippies, farmers, renewable energy enthusiasts, music-devottees, and generally good folk this Saturday September 18th at the PA Energy Festival. We are proud that for the festival entrance price of $12, guests can be delighted by the musical musings of cellist/vocalist Ben Sollee.
Sollee is an environmental advocate in his own right, opting to tour the US via bicycle rather than the traditional gas-powered van. His work in fighting moutain top removal has proved exhaustive.
We encourage you to stop by for a great show. Come earlier to hear seminars on everything from "Electrical Grounding and Solar PV Systems" to "Living in a Passive Solar Home".
-------BEN SOLLEE REVIEWS ------------------------------------------------
"Hearing lines like “If I’ve wounded you, I’m sorry. I had good intentions” in the context of what mountaintop removal does to communities and the earth, it’s a powerful plea for ecological, economic and social healing. I can’t say I’ve heard anything that’s tied itself to the Bluegrass State so holistically and purposefully."
- Sean Cannon, Buzzgrinder
"Sollee's own songs on Learning to Bend channel the artists he heard his parents play while growing up — Wilson Pickett, Ray Charles, Billie Holiday, Otis Redding — with a touch of the folk recordings he later discovered. Sollee pays tribute to these singers with a remarkably soulful voice of his own and some surprising instrumentation. At the heart of Learning to Bend is Sollee's warm and resonate cello, an instrument he's plucked and bowed since he was a child."
- All Things Considered, National Public Radio
