Greensgrow Farms will launch its 20th Anniversary Season on Saturday, March 25 from 4:00pm – 6:30pm. Founded in 1997 as a hydroponic farm on the site of a former steel galvanizing plant, Greensgrow is a nationally recognized leader in developing urban agriculture projects, and providing access to fresh produce in low-income communities.
The March 25 open house, reception, and arts dedications will honor the memory of founder Mary Seton Corboy, a true Philadelphia visionary, who launched the city’s flagship urban farm, providing new solutions for small farmers and urban residents looking to improve their quality of life.
Saturday’s celebration will include the unveiling of an intergenerational mural created through a collaboration between the Portside Arts Center and St. Anne's Senior Center; a presentation of a citation from the office of Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney; followed by the announcement of Mary’s Community Fund grant award winners and the official kick-off of Greensgrow’s fundraising campaign for the next 20 years. The reception will feature hors d’oeuvres and seasonal drinks provided by Greensgrow’s Community Kitchen.
The event is open and free to the public.
