Want to preserve your favorite fall fruits without using cups and cups of refined sugar? Learn how to safely and deliciously can without any added sugar at our Canning Without Added Sugar Workshop! On September 30, the author of Naturally Sweet Food in Jars and blogger at Food in Jars, Marisa McClellan will be at the Greensgrow Community Kitchen to show you how to make both shelf-stable applesauce and pear butter without any additional sugar.
Marisa will walk you through every step of the canning process, from prepping your fresh fruits, to filling your jars, to using the boiling water bath method for safe, shelf-stable preservation. Everyone will go home with a 4 ounce jar of applesauce and full recipes and how-to guides so you can keep canning at home! This is a great time of the year to put up fruits of the early fall harvest.
Marisa McClellan is a food blogger, cookbook author, and canning teacher based in Center City Philadelphia. She has written for several local and national publications and co-hosts a podcast dedicated to living a food-focused life, called Local Mouthful. Marisa has taught canning and preserving for nearly a decade and loves to share her knowledge and experience with new and experienced canners alike.
