Event Description

GLASSBORO, NJ – Six women artists reevaluate ideas of sexuality and gender within the domestic realm of materials in the latest exhibition at Rowan University Art Gallery at High Street. Between the Threads is on view from November 14, 2016 – January 7, 2017. An opening reception takes place on Thursday, November 17 from 6 – 8 p.m.

This group exhibition showcases the work of April Dauscha, Nancy Davidson, Melissa Maddonni Haims, Jesse Harrod, Elizabeth Mackie, and Diane Savona. Utilizing yarn, string, hair, and thread in practices often considered the domain of womanhood (knitting, sewing, and weaving), they employ these materials and techniques in non-traditional ways to explore issues of identity, sexuality, power, control, and self-determination.
