The free event will take place rain or shine on Sunday, September 6 from noon to 6 p.m. near the Church of the Advocate on Diamond Street in North Philadelphia, between 18th and 19th streets.
Coltrane spent his formidable years in Philadelphia, perfecting his craft as a saxophonist and studying under the city’s most revered jazz musicians. In keeping with the tradition of Philadelphia’s musical excellence, this year’s lineup includes: V. Shayne Frederick, Bootsie Barnes, Juan “Cuco” Castellanos and The AfroCuban Jazz Ensemble, Nasir Dickerson and award-winning jazz trumpeter Duane Eubanks. Headlining the festival is Grammy® nominated and Soul Train Award winner, Maysa, best known for her solo work as a jazz and R&B singer and role as lead vocalist of the internationally renowned group, Incognito.
