DESCRIPTION:Glen Foerd on the Delaware and the Center for Art in Wood 
 present Figurative Wood Sculpture: Heroes and Hedgehogs led by interna
 tionally renowned artist Susan Hagen. This is a two-day hands-on cours
 e that will instruct participants in the creation of small-scale wood 
 sculptures of animals, humans, and imaginary creatures. Basic wood scu
 lpture processes will be taught, beginning with sketches and maquettes
  and including basic joinery, carving, and whittling. Knowledge of dra
 wing and basic woodworking is useful but not required. Susan Hagen is
  a Philadelphia-based artist, writer, and educator who discovered the 
 process of woodcarving would allow her to translate her own experience
