SUMMARY:The Disappointed Tourist: Ellen Harvey
DESCRIPTION:Ellen Harvey: The Disappointed Tourist\nClosing Event\nJus
 t Added !! \n\nArtist Meet and Greet and Talk\n\nJoin us for a meet a
nd greet and artist’s talk with Ellen Harvey \nSaturday, March 9th
 1 – 4 pm\nTalk begins at 3:00 pm\n\nThe Disappointed Tourist is an o
ngoing project for which Ellen Harvey is making paintings of lost site
s suggested by members of the public in response to the question: Is t
here a place that you would like to visit that no longer exists? This
international exhibition has been traveling and growing since 2019 wit
h 300 sites painted thus far. \n\nPainted in a style reminiscent of v
intage postcards, the project was inspired by the urge to restore what
has been lost due to the forces of time, ideology, environmental even
ts, gentrification, and geopolitical conflicts. The Disappointed Touri
st celebrates the human attachment and nostalgia for places both real
and aspirational and creates a fair and balanced playing field in whic
h personal losses large and small can be recognized.\n\nRowan Universi
ty Art Gallery & Museum, in partnership with Creative Glassboro, Glass
boro Public Library, Glassboro Historical Society, and Heritage Glass
Museum, solicited submissions from the local community. Eleven suggest
ed sites have been added to this new iteration of the installation inc
luding the Whitney Brother’s Glass Factory, Salem Oak, Bay Point, Ze
e Orchards, Eighty Acres, Palace of Depression, Vineland Speedway, Blo
ckbuster Video, Veterans Stadium, The Philadelphia Art Club, and grand
parent’s backyard. \nTo learn more about the project, including rea
ding the stories behind the submissions or to suggest a new site to be
  painted, visit: https://www.disappointedtourist.org/\n\nFor more info
