DESCRIPTION:The Clay Studio presents a new exhibition featuring the wo
 rk of Resident Artist Nate Willever. The collection is a culmination o
 f Willever’s work studying native materials during his residency at 
 The Clay Studio. Over the last five years, he has been testing, refini
 ng, and blending local materials into clays and glazes used in his fun
 ctional pottery. These materials included three unrefined local clays,
  one locally sourced felspathic rock, and wood ash from his fireplace.
  Willever’s goal is to highlight these materials and create a finish
 ed pot that could not be made anywhere else. Willever’s exhibition w
 ill be on display in the Jill Bonovitz Gallery from October 13 to Dece
 mber 31, 2022.\n \nWillever was raised in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, 
 and is currently based in Philadelphia. He earned a BFA in ceramics fr
 om Maine College of Art and has taught numerous classes and workshops 
 on functional pottery at institutions such as The Clay Studio, Ox-Bow 
 School of Art in Saugatuck, Michigan, and Haystack Mountain School of 
 Crafts in Deer Isle, Maine. Willever is currently a long-term Resident
