SUMMARY:Museum for Art in Wood presents ‘La Famiglia’ by Mark Sfir
 ri
DESCRIPTION:The Museum for Art in Wood presents La Famigila, the first
museum-organized solo exhibition by celebrated artist and woodturner
Mark Sfirri. The highly personal exhibition of new and never-before-se
en work offers a way of thinking about the definition of family and it
s meanings through different lenses: families vs born into; families o
f species and identities; and familial strife and unconditional love,
support, and dysfunction. La Famiglia represents a coming to terms wit
h generational passing through Sfirri’s adoption of a spontaneous,
flow state” approach in his wood turning, carving, and surface pro
cesses.\nIn addition to new works by Sfirri, the exhibition features a
collaborative project that includes the work of 45 artists and collea
gues who were asked to contribute a two-dimensional artwork depicting
an “immigrant” of their choice, whether a person or an idea.\n\nFo
