 ring Clay Studio Resident Artist alumni Andrea Marquis. Her upcoming e
 xhibition of large, seemingly heavy objects respond to and defy gravit
 y. Gravity is empathy in material, and Heaven is both earthly delights
  and as light as a cloud. “Matter in a Floating World” will be on 
 display in the Jill Bonovitz Gallery from October 13 to December 31, 2
 022.\n \nBorn in Salem, Massachusetts, Philadelphia-based artist Marq
 uis received her MFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred
  University in 2009 and her BFA in 2000 from Syracuse University. Marq
 uis has participated in Artist in Residence programs at The Clay Studi
 o in Philadelphia, Peters Valley Craft Center, the Archie Bray Foundat
 ion, Tyler School of Art, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, and L
 a Maison des métiers D’Art in Quebec City, Canada. Her work has bee
 n exhibited nationally and internationally and was included in the 201
 5 NCECA Biennial at the Winton Bell Gallery at Brown University.\n\nFo
